| Well, the SNG experiment continues. I am playing very well. But I'm not getting the results. I am now 1 for 16 in my last coin toss hands. Tonight, I three-tabled Turbo SNGs. I bubbled in two of them. In the first, my best hand of the whole tournament was my last hand (A3s), and I lost to 33. I have no issues with that result (4th). In the second, I also bubbled, when my AK lost to JJ. In the third, we got three-handed and the money went in a circle. We're at the 400/800 level, and that's rare in a SNG. Anyway, I'm trailing the chip leader by a couple hundred and pick up JJ in the free spot (button). I move in, and he calls. He has AK. Yes, I lose another coin toss (A on flop, K on turn, no Q or J to save me).
Still, even with the ugly results from yesterday and today, I'm up overall. If I can just bribe the shuffler to let me win half of the coin toss hands, I might have a chance.
Go Cubs! A great game tonight, although Carlos Zambrano didn't look that good early. He tried too hard, and walked batters, and Florida took advantage in the first inning. Then the Marlins didn't, and the Cubs did in the 8th inning, scoring six, and winning 6 to 3. The Cubs did strike out 15 tonight, a good sign. Tomorrow, Sean Marshall against Dontrell Willis.
Would you like the chance to see me in a suit and tie? And hobnob with Irvine's Mayor, City Council, and Board of Education? It's the Teacher of the Year Banquet on Friday, May 5th, and I'll be there (and giving one of the speeches). If you like dealing with 1,000 teachers who may be on the tipsy side, join us at the Irvine Marriott. Tickets are going fast--the event will sell out.
I will be back in Las Vegas on Mother's Day for continuing education--a tax seminar I attend every year. I'll probably play some p0ker on Sunday, and perhaps Monday and Tuesday nights (I'm planning on driving home when the seminar ends, Wednesday).
I almost forgot to mention the weather forecast. Apparently, Mother Nature is in league with the Stars' Shuffler:
Tomorrow: Cloudy. High 66F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
Tomorrow night: Cloudy with a few showers. Low 51F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 30%.
Wednesday: Cloudy with a few showers. Thunder possible. High near 60F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
Thursday: Thundershowers. Highs in the low 60s and lows in the low 50s.
Friday: Scattered showers. Highs in the low 60s and lows in the low 50s.
Oh, the long-range forecast? Showers on Saturday and next Tuesday.
Mother Nature, it's April. Send that rain where it belongs: Youngstown, Ohio, New Jersey, and maybe Louisiana (seriously, there's a drought in southern Louisiana right now). But our rainy season is supposed to be over!!!!!!
That't it for tonight. Sleep beckons, and my first day back working in a week tomorrow. |
