Frankly, that's the only way to describe this. So let me provide some background.
Joe Navarro is coming out with a book in November on tells. The book is titled, "Phil Hellmuth Presents Read 'Em and Reap: A Career FBI Agent's Guide to Decoding Poker Tells."
scottro tells me that Mr. Navarro has a great reputation, and his seminars (on tells) are definitely worth considering.
So a thread starts on Mr. Navarro's book. That's not a surprise; there have been threads on our books on 2+2 (and some of the posters have even read our books!). But we have
this post where Marvin Karlins (MKarlins), who is a co-author of the book, calls Mason Malmuth unethical, and makes other accusations.
What started this? Well, a moderator on 2+2, TT,
made a post where he said that "If you have a basic understanding of psychology, logic, and the standard commonly known tells then the book isn't worth reading." MKarlin then said that TT is wrong. Mason got involved, and the situation has become both humorous and typical of 2+2. The debate now includes issues on the quality of paper used by 2+2 (no joke) and HarperCollins (the publisher of the Navarro book)....
Now, we'll have to wait and see how the book does, but for some humor, you can find the thread
here.
