John McCain should thank the
New York Times. He had his best week of fund raising in the campaign, thanks to the
Times running of a story that is being discredited by Democrats. For example, the
San Francisco Chronicle (not exactly a hotbed of conservatism)
said, "Regrettably, the Times left itself and our profession open to such allegations of bias by publishing soft-focus evidence of what would bean outrageous breach of public trust." Lanny Davis denied most of the allegation on the Huffington Post. "I have direct knowledge of a part of the issue reported in the New York Times and Washington Post stories on Senator McCain published on February 21, 2008...Bottom line: what was omitted from both the Times and the Post stories was that what I wanted Senator McCain to do, he refused to do. And he did so out of a concern of appearances of impropriety. That is a fact."
I'll interrupt for this quote: "Facts are silly things."
Even the ombudsman at the
Times thinks
there are major problems with the story. This really reminds me of the Dan Rather/phony documents debacle. John McCain is drafting his thank you letter to the
Times right now....
Here's a blog that has a very non pc name:

A busy week ahead: Besides the normal work (lots), client appointments every day this week, I'm heading to Las Vegas next Monday to promote the new book. I haven't gotten my copies yet, but they should be here tomorrow or Tuesday.
I don't get to post a top ten quotes against work, not until April 16th.
Oh, I forgot to mention that the quote (above) comes from Ronald Reagan.
