Bad News for the WSOP

Messenger of DOOM
Full Tilt has notified winners of their satellites to the WSOP main event that they will be putting $10,000 into their accounts "so that they can complete the registration processes." PokerStars, at last report, will still be using some sort of third party to buy-in their satellite winners.

Forget 8,000 entrants. We're at 7,000 and sinking, as many, many of those who won seats at Full Tilt will never play in the main event. I suspect 5,000 is much more realistic, but we'll see...

...so that they can complete the registration processes...

If the winners are US residents, aren't they going to have a problem getting hold of the cash? And isn't the $10K supposed to be subject to tax anyway?

I wonder if FTP will raise their maximum withdrawal limit, which I seem to recall was $6K.

For a site that ostensibly tries so hard to be like Stars, they fall so short sometimes.

Good. Let's keep that $ in the online economy. Taking a few million out and xferring to the WSOP isn't so good an idea anyhow.

I agree, in fact I was kind of surprised the online rooms are still promoting the WSOP, I guess the marketing buzz is greater than the hit on the collective bankroll.

Hell yeah it's a good thing for the online community. I suspect that the WCOOP will be record-breaking this year.

I will take over 6000 for a dinner?
